    Description

    This is a reproduction of a 50 cent Confederate "paper coin" and a reproduction Confederate half dollar.
    50 cent Confederate "Paper Coin" - Since most people saved all the coins they could get, the Confederate government issued small denominations of paper money, known as "Paper Coins"  so that people and businesses could easily make change.  This particular note features a bust of Confederate President Jefferson Davis, and was printed in February 1864.
    Confederate Half Dollar - Made to look like a Union half dollar, this 1861 coin was not mass produced and never circulated.  The Confederacy was unable to start production of this coin due to a severe shortage of silver throughout the Civil War.
